RM

Kim Nam-joon (김남준; born September 12, 1994), professionally known as RM, is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and record producer under BigHit Music. He is the leader of the boy group BTS.

Career Trajectory
RM began releasing solo work with his first mixtape, *RM*, in 2015, followed by his second mixtape, *Mono*, in 2018. *Mono* achieved historical success, peaking at number 26 on the Billboard 200 and becoming the highest-charting album by a Korean soloist in the United States at that time. He made his official solo debut in 2022 with the release of his studio album *Indigo*, which featured contributions from Erykah Badu and Anderson .Paak. This album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, marking it as the highest-charting album by a Korean soloist of all time. His discography continues with the release of his second album, *Right Place, Wrong Person*, in 2024. He has also collaborated with artists including Wale, Younha, Warren G, Gaeko, Krizz Kaliko, MFBTY, Fall Out Boy, Primary, and Lil Nas X. Furthermore, in 2020, RM was promoted to full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association.

Awards and Recognition
In 2018, for his contributions to Korean culture, RM, along with the other members of BTS, was awarded the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea.
