La historia se desarrolla a partir del año 2040. Cuenta la futurista aventura de un robot sintoide de avanzada tecnología que era utilizado por el gobierno de los Estados Unidos como arma de infiltración y eliminación. En una misión de infiltración, Zeta rompió el protocolo al no eliminar a su objetivo tras descubrir que era inocente, es catalogado como fugitivo y desde entonces huye de los agentes de la Agencia Nacional de Seguridad, los cuales desean capturarlo para reprogramarlo. Zeta desea encontrar a su creador, el Dr. Selig y entender por que él es capaz de poseer voluntad propia; en el camino se encontrara con personas que lo ayudarán en su búsqueda como son Ro, quien lo acompaña siempre y Batman (Terry McGinnis) (solo en dos episodios de la serie Batman del Futuro).
