Una fuga radioactiva acaba con la tripulación de la nave Enano Rojo. 3 millones de años después, David Lister despierta de su hibernación. Sus únicos compañeros son Gato, un ser que evolucionó a partir de una gata preñada y Arnold Rimmer, el holograma de un viejo amigo, que era oficial de los oficiales de la antigua tripulación. Así, Lister, el último ser humano vivo, viaja por el espacio en su nave guiada por Holly, el ordenador de a bordo.

Primer Temporada de "Enano Rojo" (1988) I. La trama gira en torno a la aventura de Arthur Dent, un humano ordinario cuya casa está programada para ser demolida para hacer lugar a una autopista, salvado de la muerte por un extraño viajero intergaláctico llamado Ford Prefecto justo antes del apagado final de la Tierra. Junto a él se embarca en una odisea por el espacio en busca de lo que significa realmente la vida, la mente y el disco de pruebas de Falkirk. II. Origen de la Serie "Enano Rojo" no es una secuela, precuela ni reboot de otra serie. Es un spin-off basado en la novela homónima escrita por Douglas Adams. La serie fue producida por The Hitchhiker's Guides to the Galaxy Television Company y BBC2. III.
