Comienza con la llegada de Kirby a Ciudad Cappy, debido a problemas con la nave y se estrella en el lugar. Ahí se encuentra con el Rey Dedede, un pingüino que gobierna Dreamland y que quiere eliminar a Kirby con la ayuda de los monstruos que le pide a un vendedor de una corporación llamada Empresas Pesadilla. Kirby se alía con Meta Knight para enfrentarse al rey, aunque en un principio no se llevan muy bien. Kirby tiene 33 amigos: Tiff (Fumu en la versión japonesa), Tuff (Bun), Jaden. (Judai-kun-sanma), Novita(Nobi-kan), MetaKnight(Meta-kun),Rey Dedede (King Dedede). Más tarde se revive Kirby es como un bebé y que sus poderes recién se están desarrollando entre ellos su asombrosa capacidad de absorber objetos y tener sus habilidades
