Not Necessarily the News: Un Despierta de Humor Saturado en su Primera Temporada (1983) Not Necessarily the News, serie de televisión estadounidense creada por Al Jean y Mike Reiss, fue estrenada por la cadena Fox el 4 de enero de 1983. A diferencia de otras producciones de comedia, Not Necessarily the News no es una secuela, precuela, spin-off o reboot de otra serie. En su lugar, se trata de un programa satírico y irreverente que ofrecía una mirada extraña e hilariosa sobre las noticias actuales de la época (Cherkis & Schechter, 1984). La premisa de la serie consistía en presentar parodias de noticieros, comerciales, reportajes informativos y entrevistas con personajes ficticios.
